This year, the Pontypool Relay for Life Committee kicked off the year with two unforgettable fundraising nights, both hosted at the Pontnewydd Workingmen’s Club. The events brought the community together through music, nostalgia, and a shared commitment to supporting Cancer Research UK.
The year began with a sparkling tribute to the iconic Swedish supergroup ABBA.
Guests danced the night away to timeless hits in a high-energy, feel-good event that lit up the Pontnewydd Workingmen’s Club. From sequined outfits to enthusiastic sing-alongs, the atmosphere was electric and filled with joy.
Funds Raised: £2,530– All proceeds went directly to Cancer Research UK, supporting lifesaving cancer research.
Next came a show-stopping evening of rock ‘n’ roll with a tribute to the King himself, Elvis Presley. Performed by the charismatic Darren "Graceland" Jones, the event was a nostalgic journey through classic Elvis hits, complete with rhinestones, charisma, and hip-shaking energy.
Funds Raised: £1,097– Again, every penny went to Cancer Research UK.
The Pontypool Relay for Life team extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, volunteered, performed, or donated. Your generosity helps fund vital research and gives hope to those affected by cancer.
Keep an eye out for more exciting events throughout the year as we continue to raise funds and awareness—together, we are making a difference.
